Backyard Foe: The Hornworm

I HATE hornworms. They ate almost all the blossoms on my tomato plants for the last two years. The only chemical-free way I know of getting rid of them is by pulling them off one by one (which is easy to do since they are HUGE!). But if I don’t check the plant first thing in the morning, 3-5 worms will have shown up out of nowhere and consumed half a plant by 10am.
The one good thing is that after I pick them off, no new infestation happens until next year. I’m going to try planting my tomatoes in a different spot next time and see if that helps.
And guess what I found out? The chickens don’t like hornworms either. Give them an earthworm any day, but a hornworm that oozes green juice? They won’t touch it.
